James Maat

James Maat, age 56, of Zeeland, died unexpectedly Monday, July 9, 2007. He was the founder and co-owner of Maat Produce in Milburg. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Zeeland High School; he also graduated from Davenport College. Jim attended Central Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary; sons, Bryan and Alison Maat of Zeeland, Jeff and Beth Maat of Zeeland; seven grandchildren, Kylee, Jaela, Tyler and Zachary Maat, Taylor, Dylan and Jordyn Maat; father, Harold Maat of Zeeland; sisters and brothers, Jayne and Jack Elzinga of Zeeland, Bill and Linda Maat of Spring Lake, Bev and Mike Donahue of Holland, Bob and Lori Maat of Zeeland; father and mother-in-law, Preston and Theresa Meeuwsen of Zeeland; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Gord Poest of Hamilton, Larry Meeuwsen of Zeeland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 in the Chapel at Central Wesleyan Church with the Reverend Mike Van Buren officiating. Visiting hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State St., Zeeland. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery.
