Bambacht, Wilma J. Wilma Jane Bambacht went home to be with her Lord on September 28, 2016 at the age of 98. Wilma was born May 9, 1918 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Gerrit and Jennie (DeDie) Bambacht. She attended Portage Agricultural School, graduating in 1936. Wilma received her BS degree in 1951 and MS Degree in 1961 from Western Michigan University. She was a devoted school teacher who throughout the years had taught country schools in several states, retiring from Pittsford, MI in 1980. Wilma enjoyed traveling extensively. She was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Portage serving actively in worshiping, teaching and singing. Wilma was devoted to God and to her family. Surviving are her sister Caroline Klink; her brother Gerald (Ruth) Bambacht; sister-in-law Jackie Bambacht; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and by siblings Adrian Bambacht, John Bambacht, Jim Bambacht and Julia Fultz. Services were held 10:00AM Saturday, October 1st at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor Clayton Smith officiating. A private interment will be in Portage Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wilma's memory may be directed to the First Reformed Church of Portage, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or Pacific Garden Mission.
