William A. "Bill" Weemes, age 85, of Richland, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 21, 2017 at the Lakewood Assisted Living in Augusta, MI. He was born in Old Hickory, TN on November 18, 1931, the son of Frank C. and Julia (Winnett) Weemes. Bill faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill married the "Love of His Life", Betty Ann Rodriguez at the Fort Custer Military Base in Battle Creek on April 25, 1953; she sadly preceded him in death on April 9, 2015. He is survived by two sons, William "Dean" (Andrea Lynn "Andy") Weemes of Augusta, and Jeffrey Mark (Alison) Weemes of Ada, MI; a grandson, Dr. Kristopher Ross Weemes, and a step-grandson, Ted Coale. Bill was also sadly preceded in death by grandson, Nicholas Adam "Nick" Weemes on December 6, 2015, and two brothers, Hoyt & Milton Weemes. Bill enjoyed traveling to Florida, and was an extremely avid & excellent golfer, and was a member at Gull Lake View Golf Club for many years. He was a founding member of the St Jerome Catholic Church in Battle Creek, and was currently a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Augusta, and the Kellogg 25 Year Club. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26th at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 27th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012 with Father John D. Fleckenstein, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A Carl, Assisting. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
