Violet Charkowski

Our beautiful, brilliant, artistic, expressive, feisty, mischievous, funny, generous, strong, hard-working, ferocious, card wizard, Miss Vi, passed away peacefully at age 93, in Bradenton, Florida, after a brief illness. She began her professional endeavors cleaning houses at age seven, and ended at age 87, with a ten year stint at a Publix Super Market in Bradenton. She was most proud of her work as a medical assistant to a Kalamazoo internist, that spanned thirty years. She and her late husband, Bo Charkowski, then served together as Property Managers of the Marlborough Building in Kalamazoo, during the 1990's. She is survived by four children: Roxanne (Jim) Blackwell, Deb (Dick) Kay, Larry Charkowski, Nancy (John) Bremer, and their families. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18 at noon, in the chapel at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South in Kalamazoo, where she will be interred. Following the service, at 2:00 pm, there will be a gathering to celebrate her life at the restaurant where she met her beloved Bo, The Dock at Bayview, 12504 E D Avenue, Richland, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to a charity of your choice.
