Violet M. Champion, age 87, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mrs. Champion was born on January 22, 1929 in Richland Twp., Michigan, the daughter of Carl and Margarethe (Marx) Adams. She graduated from W.K. Kellogg Consolidate Schools, Class of 1947. Violet, known to many as Vi, worked at the Gobles Grocery "Corner Store" for 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and golf. She was also quite creative and would spend many hours working on crafts, sewing and knitting. Vi embraced life and made sure to occupy her time doing things that she enjoyed and brought joy to others. She was a special lady who made life much happier for those that knew and loved her. Violet is survived by her children: Larry and Marsha Champion, Garry and Jennifer Champion, Barb and Jerry Dundon, Brian Champion and Janet Lowman; five grandchildren: Kerri and Brett Moss, Krista Champion and Derek Enis, Katelyn Champion and Tyler Parker, Shawn and Gina Dundon, Matt and Stacey Dundon; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave and Sharon Adams; four sisters: Ginny and Stuart Hammond, Martha Karkau, Donna Dean, Shirley and Dave Elaman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; their infant son, Ronald; and two brothers: William Adams and Clarence "Kernel" Adams. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, May 6th from 11 am 12 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Paw Paw, Michigan (120 Pine St.), where a memorial service will be held at 12 pm, Pastor Tiffany McCafferty officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Violet's name to the Gobles Athletic Department, 409 N. State St., Gobles, MI 49055.
