Vicki Corinne Fischer passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on March 21, 1943, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Vicki arrived seven minutes after her twin sister Valerie, to the late Valentine and Edith (Conner) Hackley.

Vicki dedicated her career to enriching the lives of students with special needs. She earned her BA in Special Education with an Educable Mentally Impaired Endorsement and an MA in Special Education specializing in the Emotionally Impaired/Educateur Program from Western Michigan University. Her teaching career included Lincoln Elementary School and Comstock Public Schools, and she also worked at Lakeside Home for troubled children in Kalamazoo. Later, while in Connecticut, she brought joy and her love for music and the arts to the elderly as a companion.

On October 24, 1964, Vicki married her best friend, Nolan. Their marriage spanned six decades, a testament to their enduring love, and saw them reside in Michigan, Illinois, New York, Utah and Connecticut. Vicki was a woman of quiet strength, boundless creativity, and had a deep passion for art. She became a master artist, known for her exotic quilts, including the masterpiece "A Woman's Work is Never Done," inspired by her trip to Nigeria. Her quilts were proudly displayed at a Gallery in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her sisters and best friends attending the grand opening. Beyond quilting, her hobbies included creating art from textiles, reading and writing poetry, gardening, playing the piano, tennis, and cooking gourmet dishes.

Vicki's legacy is a testament to her love of the creative arts, a journey of self-exploration, and personal growth, a love she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren. Each artistic creation she shared revealed something new about herself and her connection to the world. Above all else, she treasured her family.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Edith Hackley, and her siblings Marguerite Walden and Edgar Hackley. She is survived by her beloved husband, Nolan Fischer; her children, Jonathan Fischer, Valisa (James) Tate, and Justyne Fischer; her siblings, Mary Mitchell, Valerie (Earl) Whiteside, and Travis Hackley; her cherished grandchildren, Zoe and Mia Tate; as well as a wide circle of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, Soror sisters, and many devoted friends.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Vicki's life on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007.
