May 7, 2024
Southgate, MI

Tyler James Crook, age 31, of Southgate, MI, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Tyler was born June 17, 1992, in Coral Springs, FL, the son of Thomas and Lisa (Sutherland) Crook. He graduated from Mattawan High School, class of 2010, and attended KVCC with special interests in music theory and philosophy. These interests continued throughout his life, frequently leading him back to the Bible to read the words of the ultimate philosopher. He worked at The Salvation Army where he loved to strike up conversations with customers about their unusual or antique finds. Tyler loved all genres of music and art, he played the acoustic guitar beautifully. He loved concerts and museums. Loved to travel - anywhere and everywhere. Most of all, he loved people, he did not judge nor ridicule. He loved his family dearly and always kept in contact.

Surviving are his mother, Lisa (Steven) Szeles; father, Thomas Crook; two sisters, Alexandra and Elizabeth Szeles; maternal grandfather, Clarence Sutherland; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tyler was preceded in death by his brother, Alex Crook; maternal grandmother, Mary Sutherland; paternal grandparents, Jack and Stella (Wolownik) Crook; uncle, Larry Crook; and cousin, Jason Sutherland.

Memorial services will be held Friday, June 28, at 6 p.m. at Centerpoint City Church, 326 West Cork Street, Kalamazoo, with Pastor Jason Olson presiding. Reception will follow services.

Interment will be in St Mary's cemetery at a later date.
