Thomas J. Lukas, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 24, 2015 at his residence. Thomas was born in Racine on November 19, 1946, son of the late Elmer and Alice (nee: Oswolski) Lukas.

Thomas graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1965”. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then graduated from UW-Parkside with a degree in English Education. On August 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Bernett and travelled extensively for a year through Europe. They shared many travels to Mexico and and other exotic locales in their thirty eight years together before Barbara passed away on May 20, 2010. Thomas was employed as a Federal Contractor working with JI Case, Great Lakes Composite Consortium and lastly with DRS before his retirement. In his younger years, he was active with the Boy Scouts and was a leader for his son’s troops. Throughout his life, he loved spending time at his cabin in Wautoma, while hunting pheasant and deer and fishing for perch and walleye. Thomas will be remembered fondly as a consummate professional who exhibited this trait in all facets of his life. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his sons, Shaun and Danny; brothers, Don Lukas, David (Sharon) Lukas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda (David) Peterson, Stuart Bernett, Steven Bernett, Spencer Bernett Jr.; the daughter he never had, niece Nicole Bernett; his faithful furry companion, Maggie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Thomas was also preceded in death by his son Shane Lukas.

Memorial services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday October 3, 2015, 4:00 p.m., with Reverend Kay Glennon officiating. Private interment will be held at Caledonia Memorial Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until time of service.
