Thomas 11/1/1942 - 11/17/2021 Thomas James "Tom" Haselberger, 79, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 500 W. St. Mary's St., Decatur, with Father Russell Homic officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00PM until 5:00pm on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur. A rosary will be recited at 5:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Heart Association. Those wishing to send a condolence or sign the guest book online may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Tom was born November 1, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to Joseph and Harriet (Linaweaver) Haselberger. He graduated from high school in Chicago then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. On May 6, 1967, he married the love of his life Shirley Ann Watson at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. Tom was a loving father and devoted husband. He loved his family greatly as they brought him much joy and happiness as they were his whole life. Tom was known as a hard worker; he worked many years for Eatons in Battle Creek as well as other jobs. He had many hobbies he enjoyed in his spare time; he was a member of the Black River Amateur Radio Club and had a love for trains. Tom had a strong faith in God and was known for always helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Haselberger; children, Karen Haselberger and Martin (Diana) Haselberger; grandchildren, Christina, Erica and Wayne Haselberger; and siblings, Barb Moyer, Sue Despins, Mike (Faith) Haselberger and Alice Cummins. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Haselberger; and son-in-law, Richard Franklin.
