Terrance "Terry" Porter, age 74, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on February 6, 2017 at Bronson Hospital Kalamazoo Michigan. Born in December 1942 to Chancey and Dorothy (Empson) Porter in South Haven, MI. Terry was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and best friend to many. A true hero. He was a graduate of Vicksburg HS. A mechanic all his life. With a true passion for anything automotive. Building many hot rods in his time. His disability never held him back. He could do more than most people without one. Truly one of a kind! He will be missed by many. He loved pranks and shenanigans. As many know that were on the receiving end. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Chancey and Dorothy Porter, his infant brother Gary and his infant son Todd Alan Porter. Terry is survived by his ex wife, Sun Jones. Daughter, Teri (Dennis) VanLinder, son, Christopher Porter. Step children, Nikkita, Shalina and Linda Jones. Grandchildren, Amber (James) Meyers, Chelsea (Michael) Phillips, Lily, Christopher and Roscoe Porter. Step grandchildren, Nasir Myers, Ameerah and Zaiyah Jones. Great grandchildren, Caleb and Abbey Meyers, Bentley, Aubrey and Autumn Phillips. Sisters and brother, Charlotte Lawton, Larry Porter, Cindy Valitchka, Pamela Kay, and Deb (Pete) Richmond. Best friends, Mark "Bullet" Black and Virgil "Hoppie" Hopwood and lots more. Many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A gathering to share memories will be held on February 18, 2017 from 2-5 at the VFW post 5855; 8845 S. Sprinkle Rd. Portage, Michigan. Please feel free to bring pictures or anything else you would like to share. In Lieu of flowers please make donations directly to his children to be used for final expenses and a memorial car show in Terry's memory later this year, or any charity of your choice.
