Susan Jane Polzin

Susan Jane Polzin, age 79, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Susan was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on December 25, 1936, daughter of the late Walter G. and Helen E. Schlichting. She moved to Racine on July 12, 1948 when her father became Sales Manager at Young Radiator Company. Susan attended Roosevelt School, Washington Junior High School and graduated from William Horlick High School. Furthering her education she attended Carroll College in Waukesha for two years, and then worked for Western Publishing for over forty years until her retirement. Susan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

On July 14, 1973 Susan married Melvin Polzin, and they were blessed with a son, Eric Polzin, who was the joy of their life. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, her golden retriever, camping trips up north to the trailer, and many lake excursions on their beautiful boat. Thursdays, before she began her Monday, Wednesday – Friday dialysis, were spent going to the movies, and eating out with her friend, Sherry Spencer. She missed her friend, Betty Scott, who moved to Chetek, WI and JoAnne Carravetta Nassotti who moved to Arizona.

She will be missed by her husband Mel; her dear son, Eric Polzin (Breton Almstedt) of Milwaukee; her step-daughter, Kathy (Don) Taylor and their daughter, Haylse of Seviersville, TN; sister, Mary Soley of Racine; sister-in-law, Linda Polzin of Racine; nephew, Andy Polzin of Racine; niece, Dr. Jane Danowit of Green Bay; nephew, Jim Hansen of Dousman; great-niece, Dr. Rachel Danowit Allen (Dr. Scott Allen SLC) of Utah and their daughter, Audrey Allen of fourteen months; great nephew, Dr. Zachary (Paige) Danowit of Philadephia, PA; great niece, Lauder Hansen (Peter) Dauzvardis of Milwaukee; great nephew, Jack Hansen of Dousman; cousins, Sally Conley of Chagrin Falls, OH and Bob (Trudy) Kloppenburg of Mequon.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Gillian Weighton officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 3:00 P.M. Cremation has taken place. Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the charity of one's choice have been suggested.
