Steve Vandiver Sr.

Vandiver Sr., Steve 9/7/1959 - 10/7/2021 On October 7, 2021, Steven (Steve) Lynn Vandiver Sr., age 62, passed away after a long hard-fought battle with cancer at home with his family by his side. Steve was born in Kalamazoo, Mi on September 7, 1959 to the late Harold (Buddy) Vandiver and Sandra (Ed) Hale. In 1963, his mother remarried, and Edward (Ed) Hale, would become a very important father figure to Steve. Steve was passionate about playing guitar, which he did in several different bands throughout the years. Steve had a need for speed and spent many years racing out at the US 131 Martin Motorsports Park. He loved his fast cars and recently his favorite sports truck. Steve was a carpenter and loved cabinetry building. He spent 15 years working for Powers Bath doing bathroom remodels. Although Steve had been previously been married. On July 17, 1999, Steve married the love of his life, Terry, who survives him. They enjoyed bowling together on local bowling leagues, band practice, golfing, and deer hunting. Christmas Eve was very important to Steve. It was the one day of the year he said he was able to see everyone he loved all in the same day. Steve is survived by his mom Sandy of Parchment; 2 children, Tiffany Douglas of Galesburg and Steven (Jodi) Vandiver Jr. of Vicksburg; 3 stepchildren Mike (Sara) Emmons, Erica Emmons, Desiree (Ryan Butler) Campbell; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters along with several nieces and nephews in Decatur, Al. He was preceded in death by his dad Harold (Buddy) Vandiver, stepdad Ed Hale, son who died at birth Jared Vandiver, and sister Nannette Lovell. Steve's wishes were to be cremated with no services and we will honor those wishes.
