Pew, Stephen Eliot 6/17/1939 - 11/3/2022 Gull Lake, Michigan and Naples, Florida Stephen Eliot Pew, age 83, of Gull Lake, MI and Naples, Florida died in his Gull Lake home on November 3, 2022. Steve was born on June 17, 1939 and lived in Birmingham with his parents, Frederic C. Pew and Gladys Duffy Pew, and three brothers, Frederic, Anthony, and David. His years at Birmingham High School were very special, and he kept in contact with his many friends there over the years. He was able to maintain contact with his classmates, professors, and fraternity brothers (Phi Delta Theta) from Denison University in Ohio, as well. He helped organize and participate reunions for both his high school and college years. After college, he went to California with a degree in theater, an officers commission to serve in the Marine Corps, and a wife (Kathryn Boles Pew). While there, they welcomed two sons, Stephen F. Pew and Scott C. Pew. Having served in Vietnam, Steve and family returned to Birmingham. He continued to enjoy acting and singing, as he pursued his career in real estate. He was co-owner of Max Broock, Inc., Realtors. During his years as a Realtor, he was elected by his peers as President of the Birmingham-Bloomfield Board of Realtors and the Michigan Association of Realtors, and as Regional Vice President of the National Association of Realtors. He was awarded Realtor Emeritus status for his many years of service. He married Kathleen M. Keelan Pew in 1996, and moved to Gull Lake. Steve and Kathy shared their lives together there and in Naples, Florida. Steve enjoyed hiking, biking, golf, tennis, and pickleball, but the activity that remained a most profound achievement was hiking the entire length (2,190 miles) of the Appalachian Trail. It was a mostly solitary endeavor, but he was joined by his son, Steve, his brother, David, or Kathy on different segments. He completed the AT in the mid-80's and the experience influenced him the rest of his life. Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons, Steve and Scott (and their mother Katie); Scott's wife, Ann Johnston; and their daughter, Kathryn, Steve's beloved "one and only granddaughter." No service arrangements have been made at this time. Contributions in Steve's memory may be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, PO Box 807, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425-9988, appalachiantrail.org/getinvolved/contribute.
