Stamatia "Toula" Mastous

Stamatia “Toula” Mastous, age 84, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on Monday September 5, 2016 at Ridgewood Care Center. Stamatia was born in Alexandria, Egypt on October 23, 1931, daughter of the late Georgios and Aglaia (nee: Stoupaki) Res.

On July 8, 1954, she was united in marriage to Peter S. Mastous, who preceded her in death on May 2, 1992. She came to the United States with her husband in 1954 to begin their life together, worked hard to learn the language and took pride in becoming an American citizen. Toula was gracious and kind, a creative and talented seamstress and home maker, excellent cook and baker, especially of greek pastries, and enjoyed flower gardening and the beauty of nature. She was a devout member of Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church as well as the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be kept close in their hearts forever.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Irene (Oreste) Lucchetta, Georgia (Michael) Barr; grandchildren, Elena Lucchetta, Tia Barr, Alex (Danielle) Barr; nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. In addition to her parents, Toula was also preceded in death by her brother, Mihali (Irini) Res; and sister, Kaliopi (Angelos) Constantinou.

Funeral services will be held at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Rd, on Thursday, September 8, 2016, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Athanasios Pieri officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m.until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Rd.
