Shirley Thomas

Shirley Mae Allan-Book-Thomas, age 87 of Delton passed away Thursday July 4, 2024 at Thornapple Manor. Shirley was born May 15, 1937 in Sault Ste Marie, MI the daughter of Harold and Mable (Schwiderson) Allan. She graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School and worked in banking at Comerica, First National, ISB and Advia. She also was employed by J.C. Penney and as a realtor. Shirley enjoyed working on her dairy farm, sewing, knitting, crocheting, camping and bowling. She was united in marriage to Leon Book in 1957 who preceded her in death and then to John Thomas in 1986 who also preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Robert) Goldsworthy, Theresa Ann (Bruce) Ferris; two sisters, Donna Book, Marion Klepper; 7 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Friends will be received 11 am to 12 pm Friday July 12, 2024 at Hickory Corners Bible Church where a memorial service will follow at 12 pm. A family interment service will be held at a later date at Banfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
