Shirley Irene Kury

Shirley Irene (Hoffer) Kury of Portage, MI., joined her Heavenly Father on March 8, 2024. She was the daughter of Irene (Jamison) and John S. Hoffer, born October 5, 1931 in Harrisburg, PA. She was a 1949 graduate of Hazel Park high school. Shirley was a retired case worker for the State of Michigan Department of Social Services St. Joseph County. She was a member of Lakeland Reformed Church Vicksburg for 55 years where she was active in the Women's Ministry, Kids Hope, Stephen's Ministry, as well as a volunteer in the church office for 10 years. She is survived by sons; William (Candace) Kury Crossville, TN, John (Laura) Kury Raleigh, NC daughters; Janet (Jerry) Mitchell lake odessa, MI and Peggy (Bruce) Broekhuizen, Portage MI sisters; Elaine (Keith) Rogers Yorbalinda, CA and Phyllis (Richard) Dunlap Prescott Valley, AZ; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sister Marilyn (Larry) Acord. A memorial service will be held at Lakeland Reformed church on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11:00 am with a luncheon following.
