Shirley Jean Firlik, age 94, of Bowling Green, OH passed away peacefully Monday, September 12, 2016 at Brookdale Clare Bridge in Bowling Green, Ohio. Shirley was born August 31, 1922 in Alto, Michigan to Otto D. and Leota (Bancroft) Dygert. She married Robert W. Firlik on December 15, 1940 and he preceded her in death in January 2005. Shirley was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, in Perrysburg, and was a former member of the Altar Guild at Zion Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Grace Lutheran Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and spending time with her family. Shirley is survived by her sons, Lee (Kathleen J.) Firlik and Stephen (Kathleen) Firlik, grandchildren, Diane (Michael) Hamilton, Timothy (Brooke) Firlik, David (Kirsten) Firlik, Michael (Rachel) Firlik, and Matthew Firlik, and, twelve great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, Robert, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert "Billy" W. Firlik, Jr., and sisters, Joyce Adams and Lila Allgaier. Friends will be received Friday, September 16, 2016 from 10 - Noon at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 13101 Five Point Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43351 with funeral services beginning at Noon, with Rev. John Rutz officiating. Burial will be held, Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 A.M. in Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South, 3940 S. Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Great Lakes Hospice or the Dementia Foundation.
