Shane Anthony Behrens, 41, of Interlochen, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 19, He was born on August 10, 1982 in Pontiac, Michigan the son of Roxanne Florence Behrens-Dolan.

Shane received his GED after high school. He was driven artistically and distinctly as an artist especially in creating gifts in accord with the character of people or person. He was a custom fabricator, designer, artist in tattooing, cartoons, portraits of people and nature, metal and wood, landscaping, automotive, home decor, jewelry making and food dishes. He believed in specifics.

He collected antique tools and used them, hot wheels, matchbox cars, old fashioned toys and autos and rocks, which some were carved.

He loved reading and applying knowledge of sociology, philosophy, psychology, factual history, mechanics, science, architecture and Albert Einstein.

He loved the focus of nature in all four seasons, especially fall. Extreme health and fitness and art of any kind were his passions. He enjoyed a wide range of music spanning many genres (picture Bach to Slayer to Johnny Cash to ICP) and played the trumpet when he was young.

He was very adamant about family and composed a personal depth of care for friends and family and of creatures, especially dogs.

He is survived by his mother, Roxanne Dolan and her partner, Bruce Bixler; sister, Felita Behrens and her husband, Matt Hobson who was like a brother to Shane; nephew, Kalobe Anthony Behrens; life partner, Renee Kiersey and their loving dog, Herschel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cherryland Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Rd. Traverse City, Michigan 49686.

An informal gathering will be held 1 pm to 3pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Life Story Funeral Home, 400 Hammond Rd. W. A celebration of life will start at 3pm.

There will also be a wake at the Pine Hall Event Center, 1776 High Lake Rd, Traverse City starting at 4 pm.
