Sarah Beckwith

Beckwith, Sarah E. 1/4/1940 - 9/6/2022 Portage Sarah Ellen Beckwith, age 82, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, after a long and very courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Walter Perkins of Rushville, IN. Left to mourn her is her husband, John C. Beckwith of Portage, MI; daughters, Nancy C.E. (Chris) Herzberg of W. Des Moines, IA, Mary P. Crimmins of Birmingham, MI, Linda E. (Chris) Heller of W. Des Moines, IA, Michelle Beckwith (Bradley) Horton of Portage, MI; son, Geoffrey M. (April) Beckwith of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are her sister, Nancy J. (Michael) Ehrman of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law Charles (Brenda) Beckwith of Cheboygan, MI; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Ray) Lefevre of Summerfield, FL, Margaret "Peg" Beckwith of Grand Rapids, MI, and Judy Beckwith of Portage, MI; 14 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, as well as several other nieces and nephews. Sarah graduated from Rushville School in Rushville, IN, and then went on to graduate from Indiana University School of Dentistry with her degree in Dental Hygiene. She was employed in several cities and states as time passed and moving became a norm. Sarah was a strong and generous woman who was selfless in her love for family. The wealth she left them cannot be measured, as no value can placed on love, self-sacrifice, and family devotion. A memorial service will take place Monday, September 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S 9th Street Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The family will begin greeting friends one hour prior to the service, as well as after the service at the luncheon taking place in the Langeland Reception Center. Honoring Sarah's wishes, cremation has taken place and an inurnment for the family will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Sarah Ellen Beckwith.
