S. Richard Goss

Died Friday morning, May 24, 2019 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Richard was born April 6, 1924 in Sunbury, PA the son of Ralph and Charlotte Gass. He graduated from Bucknell University in 1947. Richard was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and participated in the Battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. On April 30, 1949 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 70 years, Mary (Hickey) in Philadelphia, PA. Richard started his career at Sharp and Dohme (now Merck) in research and later retired from the Upjohn Company as a Medical Science Liaison with Upjohn International Division in 1988. He was also a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Nancy Ann (Richard) Graham of College Park, MD, Richard R. (Paula) Goss of Richland, MI, Susan M. (Tim) Allshouse of Adrian, MI, Judy Goss of Macomb, MI; grandchildren, Katie (Dave) King of Bear, DE, Kelly Goss of Kalamazoo, Chris (Andrea) Allshouse of North Richland Hills, TX, Sarah Graham (David) Juhasz, London, UK; Emily Allshouse of Ann Arbor, MI, Matt Goss of Boston, MA, Michael Goss, of Clinton Township, Stephen Goss of Mobile, AL, Jonathan Goss of Macomb, MI, Ryan Goss of Macomb, MI; and 5 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and a son Christopher M. Goss. A private memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Friends may meet the family from 5-7pm on Friday, May 31 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre.
