Obituary
Rollin Ray Launder, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away on May 25, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1941, in Waterville, OH to the late Albun and Kathryn (Gorrill) Launder.
Although Rollin left Ohio to move to Michigan in 1968, he remained an ardent Ohio State Buckeye fan, a passion he passed on to his son Scott.
He worked in management at Consumer's Energy for 38 years and was proud to have started a management training program that mentored some talented people up the ranks of the company.
Rollin loved to travel and has been to all seven continents and over 50 countries, with Antarctica, the Galapagos, Italy, and Asia as some of his top highlights. He was also a thrill seeker and enjoyed riding roller coasters during the family's annual trip to Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky, OH.
Rollin was a natural storyteller and loved to meet new people. If he sat next to someone on a plane or at a sporting event, he would know a good portion of their life story and they would surely know a good portion of his by the end of the flight or game.
He was extremely generous, adventurous, and loved to laugh. He was also strong and stubborn and fought until his very last breath. He was beloved by many, who will miss him every day of their days.
Rollin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
He is survived by Darlene Launder, his wife of 61 years; his son, Scott Launder and wife Lori; his daughter, Kelly Launder and partner Tom Sullivan; his granddaughter, Kristen Launder; his granddaughter, Courtney Bloemsma and husband Marcus; his grandson, Drew Launder; four great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter; brother Jan Launder and wife Lynn; and nieces and nephews.
