Obituary
SLOOP - Roger Alan Sloop, 52, of Wyoming, Michigan, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Battle Creek. He is survived by his sons that he loved dearly, Jeffery and Sean Sloop; his significant other, Helen Mott; brother, Chip (Sue) Sloop of Comstock Park; sister, Dorothy (Dennis) Whalen of Colorado; sister-in-Law, MaryAnn Klinker (Jim) of Greenville; nephews, Brent Sloop, Robert (Katie) Sloop, Patrick Sloop; and nieces, Rachael (Aaron) DeWitt, Martha (Peter) Heller, Kelsey Sloop, and Jamie Jo Klinker. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Lotus Sloop; his parents, Robert Donald and Augusta Phebe Sloop; and a brother, Robert Donald Sloop, Jr. Roger was a very kind and forgiving man. He loved sports, especially football and high school wrestling, which both of his sons participated in. Roger was a 12 year veteran of the United States Air Force, where he proudly served, stationed in South Korea, followed by various other federal government positions around the country after leaving the service. Memorial services to celebrate Roger's life will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI., followed at 4:00 p.m., with a celebration at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Michigan.
