Rocquel "Rocky" Morrison

Rocquel Jean Charest Morrison of Traverse City Michigan passed away on Palm Sunday, March 24th, 2024, of eighty years of age.

The youngest daughter of three children was born on January 2nd, 1944, to Mildred and Eugene Charest in Detroit Michigan. At an early age the family moved to Traverse City Michigan which is where she always called home.

Married the love of her life James (Jim) Boyd Morrison of Elk Rapids Michigan. Their birthdays were one of many special connections that they shared as his is on January 1st. They Celebrated a union for almost 45 years. Together they had a blended family. Four children from his previous marriage, Gregory, Jeffrey, Mark, Mary, and her daughter Cher who they raised together as their own.

Rocquel, known by many as Rocky, had a sole passion for interior design. She worked in New York, Naples Florida, and then under her own business in Michigan, called Interior Space Design. Her main clientele were local hotels and residential homes. She was known for her big heart, fashionable style and poise which carried through to her work.

She shared her brother Gene's love for cuisine. Rocky enjoyed cooking contests, while being the creator of Morrison Farms Pies, which sold in local grocery stores. Cherries and apples were sourced from her husband's beloved Elk Rapids fruit farms. Her artistic talent for painting and drawing was passed down to daughter Cher as well as to both of Cherts children Chance and Cy. She loved and spoiled her grandchildren which includes Devon, Chance, Mark Vincent and Cy. Her only granddaughter, Cy, is so much like Rocky, with her strong personality and similar beautiful looks, that the family nicknamed her "Lil Rocky" which Cy happily goes by. When her grandkids visited, she gave them all her full attention. Watching movies, beach outings and cooking were some of their favorite things that they all did together.

Rocky was active in her life with travel and doing things that were mostly to please and serve others. Moments that brought her the greatest joy however, were the simple times when being with her loved ones. She would routinely ask you to stay for dinner. There was always a pie or her favorite dessert Chocolate Mousse in the fridge. If there wasn't, she'd make it for you. Knitting was also another favorite hobby where everyone was sure to leave with a new scarf.

Her Catholic upbringing and faith in God was very important to her. This reflects the day of her passing on Palm Sunday. Rocky's smiling kind spirit will be missed by many, yet she will always be with us and God.

Rocquel is survived by; her husband, James (Jim) Boyd Morrison, her deceased brother, Gene Charest's surviving wife, Cindy; sister, Beverly Bodary (her deceased husband, Dan Bodary); daughter, Cher Charest and son in law, Marc LeBlanc; their children, Chance LeBlanc and Cy Miro Charest. Her husband Jims children, Jeffrey Morrison (Wife Kathy), Mary Morrison Collins (Husband Jim); their son Mark Vincent Morrison (Wife, Marissa) Mark Morrison (Wife Tracy), their son, Devon Scott (Wife Cora) niece, Beth Charest, nephews, Eric Charest and Jon Bodary along with their children and lastly, one of many dogs she had, her little poodle Izzy who she never wanted to be without.

Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elk Rapids in June followed by a Memorial Luncheon at the home of James and Rocquel on West Bay in Traverse City.
