Robert Wilcutt, 55, of Battle Creek and formerly of Ionia, Michigan died Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Borgess Medical Center. He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on March 26, 1951 the son of Ralph and Frances (Hawes) Wilcutt.
Robert served his country as a member of the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He was recognized as a decorated war hero, receiving many commendations and awards for his faithful service. Robert continued to serve his country while volunteering at the Veterans Administration Medical Center where he was instrumental in helping other disabled veterans. He also enjoyed reading, nature and walking around Battle Creek.
Robert is survived by a sister, Sue Grimes of Greenville and a half-brother, Jack Hughes of New York. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, a graveside service with full military honors will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Battle Creek VA Medical Center Community & Volunteer Service would be appreciated. Arrangements were made by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
