Robert Peck

Passed away peacefully at Wolfe County Health & Rehabilitation Center on September 29th in his hometown of Campton, Kentucky. As a surviving twin born to Henry and Ellen Peck in Campton, Kentucky; Bob moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in the 1950s and worked at a paper mill before finding his niche as a drywall hanger & finisher for his former brother-in-law Jim, owner of Burns Drywall in Portage, Michigan. Bob did countless jobs for Martz Home Builders, Louis Roberts Home Builders and other side jobs for folks who requested his work. You can't drive thru Portage without seeing at least one house he did his craft in. He could be found every morning before going to work at Derk's Restaurant in Portage over in the "drywallers corner" having his coffee and breakfast. He was hit by a drunk driver while walking in the early 90s and his drywall career started slowing down shortly thereafter. The responding officers and EMTs stated if he hadn't been as big and stout as he was due to his profession, we would have lost him alot sooner. A few years later he retired to his hometown in Kentucky. Bob was a talented guitar player who would tell you he had stage fright, but put his flattop black Gibson guitar in his hands and the songs flowed out effortlessly with him singing to each tune his hands played. He loved the old-style country and bluegrass music; not this "junk that comes out nowadays". He also loved hopping on his motorcycle before his health started declining and taking anyone who wanted to go for a ride. Bob is survived by his daughters Cathy Conner of Winchester, KY along with her children Kenneth; Thomus (Amanda) Keith and their children Tristan & Bellia of Clay City, KY; Michael (Kaitlin) Haddix and their daughter Lynlee and angel son Elijah of Middletown, OH and Missy (Lee) Noel and son A.J. Peck of Vicksburg, MI; his brother Woodrow (Trish) Peck and son Lucas; his sister Dixie, all of Campton, KY; his wife Mary of Campton, KY along with her children Colleen (George) Ogan; Chris (Gary) Allen and William (Melissa) Dixon and their families all of Michigan. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Bob is preceded in death by his daughter's mother Lovie; his parents, his twin brother James, sister Berneda Swim, stepdaughter Geri (Dixon) Docsa along with other family members. Bob was laid to rest in Campton, Kentucky on Sunday, October 4th. "This is KATV-3452 the Cherokee Rattlesnake signing off"
