Robert Kloosterman

Robert James ("Bob") Kloosterman, 87 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Born on November 13, 1932 in Kalamazoo to Elias and Lena Kloosterman.He was employed at Hercules Inc., for over 40 years, and thoroughly enjoyed his children and grandkids, a good game of Cribbage, and being a child of God. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Tillie Joan (Dykehouse), children; David (Gail) Kloosterman, Philip (Lynn) Kloosterman, Kevin (Cheryl) Kloosterman, Thomas (Norma) Kloosterman, Daniel (Denise) Kloosterman, Cheryl (Doug) Herder, 21 grandchildren, their spouses, and 16 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. He is also survived by sister Lena Doherty and sister-in-law Evelyn Kloosterman. Preceded in death by parents Elias and Lena Kloosterman and siblings William (Ann) Kloosterman, Nellie (Harm) Bloemsma, Martha (Martin) Vlietstra, John (Wilma) Kloosterman, Neil (Berdine) Kloosterman, Harry (Catherine) Kloosterman, Jeannette (Edwin) Kniss, Elias Jr. Kloosterman, and twin-sister Josephine (Gerald) VanderRoest. Bob was a blessed man with a zest for life, and who genuinely cared for so many extended family members, church members, friends, and neighbors with a joyful heart, warm greeting and encouraging words. His investment in all of us reflected the love he knew in Christ and the saving grace that he received from his heavenly father. Covid restrictions require us to reduce visiting and group size. Close family and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening, November 18, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Milwood Community Church, 3306 Lovers Lane, Kalamazoo. The funeral service for Bob, will be open to immediate family and close friends. The funeral service will be at Milwood Community Church, on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 12 p.m. with visiting of family during the hour prior to the service. Pastor Hendrik DeVries will officiate. Guests are requested to take Covid precautions with masks and social distancing. Robert will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South, 3941 Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, Michigan, following the funeral, with immediate family in attendance.
