Robert Dekema

Dekema, Robert Dale 6/25/1945 - 7/20/2021 Eagle Harbor MI Passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Battle Creek, MI. Bob was born on June 25, 1945 in Allegan, the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (Lyon) Dekema. He graduated from Parchment High School, served two years in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and earned an engineering degree from Michigan Technological University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from the University of Maryland. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sandy (Spitzmesser) Dekema and sister Carole (Dekema) Kiefer. He is survived by his wife Holly Schipper of Eagle Harbor, his son Aaron, brother Brian, and granddaughter Sandra. In retirement, Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, riding dirt bikes with his son Aaron on the trails of the Keweenaw Peninsula, and spending time with his granddaughter Sandra. Holly and Bob enjoyed many trips throughout their 20 years together. Camping, canoeing, hiking, snowshoeing and traveling to the southwest, walking the many trails of the Upper Peninsula and beyond were just some of the activities they enjoyed together. He will be greatly missed.
