Robert (Bob) Dale Boven was born on September 23, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Thomas Boven and Jessie (Knapper) Boven. Bob passed away on August 4, 2021 at home, in Sandy, Utah, surrounded by the love of all of his family. Bob is survived by the love of his life, Evelyn Joan (Grube) Boven. Their love spanned 68 years and their beautiful smiles illustrate this so well! He is also survived by his daughter Lori (Boven) Wingeleth, her husband Bill, and their three children; Megan, Bobby, and Ann Wingeleth. Bob wore the titles of husband, father, and Uncle Bob well, but, relished in the role of "Granddad"! The grandchildren learned early to appreciate his quick wit and humor, and, delighted in bantering with him. We were all wrapped in his unconditional love and support. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Jessie Boven, brothers and sister-in-laws; Thomas Boven, Donald (Charlotte) Boven, Roger (Patricia) Boven; and beloved son Robert Donald Boven. Bob was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953. He was a standout in football and baseball. Bob attended Western Michigan College and studied mechanical engineering. He applied his education to a career in the pulp and paper industry beginning in Kalamazoo, moving across country several times, and ending with Champion International, in Hamilton, Ohio. Bob and Evelyn moved to Salt Lake City in 2007 to be closer to the grandchildren and their activities. They traveled many thousands of miles to attend choir/band concerts, volleyball, football, and basketball games, and endless track and field meets. Cheering on the "grands" and their friends was a major highlight of their lives! If you were a friend of the grandchildren, you were one of the family! Bob, Evelyn, and family were active in the Methodist Church through all of their many years together. Bob's service will be held August 28, 2021 at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah with Pastor Rusty Butler officiating. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. If anyone so desires, donations may be made to your local NAMI chapter in remembrance of Bob and Eveyln's son, Bobby. Bright colors are welcomed and encouraged at the service! Condolences may be posted for the family at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com Holbrook Mortuary Salt Lake City, Utah www.HolbrookMortuary.com
