Rita Mae Ramsdell, age 76, of Scotts, MI died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 30, 1940 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Cecil A. and Oella G. (Jackson) Vosburg. She was a 1985 Climax-Scotts Adult Education Graduate, and drove school bus for 14 years with the Climax-Scott Transportation. She also worked for the Cowcatcher Restaurant, Climax, cared for others and provided full time care for her aging father, mother and mother in-law. She was a lifelong resident of Mid-west Michigan within the Climax-Scotts community. Rita was united in marriage on December 19, 1960 in Angola, Indiana for 56 years to David E. Ramsdell. He survives. In addition to her husband David, Rita is survived by her children, Mary Jayne (Bill) Martin, Daniel (Paige) Ramsdell, Doretta (Brad) Boase, Rosemary (Kos) Semonski; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a sister, Rosemary (Robert) Oostveen of Grant. In addition to Rita parents, she as preceded in death by a brother Charles Vosburg. Rita loved being with her grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, egg hunts, picnics and going to the zoo. She adored Mickey Mouse, loved making cookies, strawberry jam, shopping, shopping and shopping. Rita was very talented with making ceramics, crocheting afghans, planning parties and taking care of others. Funeral Services to celebrate Rita's life will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster. Pastor Beverly Williams of Climax United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at 11:30 am at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 12 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to "Hospice of Southwest Michigan."
