Rita Bendfelt passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Lisle, Illinois.
Born on March 16, 1931, in Kalamazoo, Rita remained a longtime resident of the community that shaped so much of her life. She graduated from Western Michigan University and went on to share her knowledge as a teacher of nutrition at Borgess School of Nursing. She later continued her professional career at Bronson Hospital, retiring in 1985.
Rita found great satisfaction in the comforts of home and in the simple pleasures that marked her daily life. She enjoyed gardening and took part in the Newcomer's Club.
She was preceded in death by Orrin Bendfelt in 2003. Rita leaves behind her son, Jeff Bendfelt, and his wife, Bee.
Cremation has taken place, and private family interment will be held.
Rita's life was marked by lasting ties to Kalamazoo, and the quiet pursuits she valued most. She will be remembered with love by those who knew her.
