Rika Griffith

Rika Esther Griffith passed peacefully Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her daughter's home in Otsego, MI. She was born August 17, 1927 to Elzo and Anna (Rop) Kroeze in Kalamazoo, Michigan and was the eldest of 3 daughters; sister to Angie (Robert) Mastenbrook and Virginia (Rudolph) Brey. Rika had a happy childhood living with her parents and aunt Lena Kroeze on the family celery farm. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1945 and worked as bookkeeper at Kalamazoo Stationary and Hammond Machinery. She was united in marriage to Walter Robert Griffith on December 15, 1950. In the early part of their marriage, they lived in Kalamazoo and had two daughters. They relocated in 1967 to Plainwell, MI where they owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Mobile Home Park. Rika enjoyed traveling with her husband and later in life with her best friend Doreen Sausaman and her sister Angie. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt, husband, sister, Virginia Brey and daughter, Cynthia Sincler. She is survived by sister, Angie Mastenbrook of Kalamazoo, MI; daughter, Sandra Burrma of Otsego, MI; grandchildren, Rick (Bonnie) Sincler of Otsego, MI; Joshua & Carmen (Sincler) Cobb of Plainwell, MI; Michael & Elena (Burrma) Johnson of Lake Wylie, SC; Eric Burrma of Holland, MI & David Burrma of Missouri; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday, October 24 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 South Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007 where services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, October 26 with Pastor Tim Foreman officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Following the committal service there will be a luncheon in the Langeland Family Center, 3926 South 9th Street.
