Parker, Richard L. Grand Rapids Richard L. Parker, of Grand Rapids, passed away October 11, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones. Dick (known by most as Parker) was born May 14, 1941 in Delton, the son of James and Mildred (Cheney) Parker. Dick grew up in the Richland area, graduating in 1959 from Richland High School. Dick appreciated music of all genres, favoring Blues and Jazz. At age 18, Dick became a professional musician, playing drums for a local group called Charlie Johnson and the Big Little Show Band in his early years. Dick retired from Meijer Inc. in 2007, where he was a computer operator for over forty years. Dick loved classical English poetry, and in 2010, published his own works, "Connections to the Heartland." A member of the Moose on Bikes, Dick enjoyed riding his Harley "Maggie", supporting charitable events for pediatric burn victims. Dick made numerous rides across America, often with his riding buddies (aka "Parker's Posse"). Dick will be remembered as a free spirit; living life on his own terms, but quietly generous and charitable. Dick is survived by sons: Richard (Denise) Parker and Larry Parker, a brother: James (Connie) Parker and a sister: Susan (Jerry) Munting, and a grandson: Kyle Richard Parker. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Aaron Patrick Parker.
