King, Richard "Rich" 10/30/1963 - 1/16/2021 Kalamazoo Richard "Rich" Ray King, 57, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021, at home after a 14-month battle with brain cancer. Rich was employed for 20 years with Edward Rose & Sons as a property manager for apartment communities throughout Michigan and Indiana. He loved camping and would start booking camping trips on January 2nd for the whole year. He treasured inviting family and friends to join. Friends, family, food, and corn hole would consume hours on every camping trip. He loved the outdoors in general, often enjoying walks, hikes through trails, yard work, and the beach. A few trips were even made to Mexico in the winter so he could soak up the sun, sand and surf. Rich attended all the local festivities and parades and always had a finger-lickin' good time at Rib Fest. Rich loved a game of golf and for a short time played on a local league. He said there was never a bad game of golf as long as it's a good day to walk the course. You will find no greater fan of the Detroit Tigers. He made many family trips to Detroit and even visited Florida for the team's spring training. He and his father attended the winning game of the 1984 World Series and even made the front page of the Detroit Free Press. Rich was all about family and he loved sitting around the kitchen table playing games on game night. Board games, card games, dice games-he would play them all and win most. As much as he loved having the whole family over, Rich did enjoy his quiet time and was an avid reader. He owned every Stephen King book ever written. He also liked the writings of Lee Child and any good detective or spy novel. It was not uncommon for him to finish a book in two or three days. Rich was preceded in death by his father Richard H. King, Mother Carol (Dale) Estey, and younger sister Dawn Anderson. He is survived by his three children Steven King, Jacqueline King, and Jarrett King, his two sisters Denise (Bowers) King and Georgina Paar and numerous nieces and nephews. Rich is also survived by his 15-year life partner, Bobbie McCloud, and her three children, Daymon Kusevich, Amanda (Terry) Poston, and Kyle (Delanie) Gray. To Rich, family was about precious time, memories, togetherness and love, and for all those blessed to have been considered his family there will forever be a piece missing from our hearts. He will be sorely missed and forever loved. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no official ceremony. A small gathering of memory will be held at Rich's home for family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation in care of the funeral home. Friends and family are encouraged to leave a condolence message at www.joldersma-klein.com.
