Dick was a longtime employee of Michigan Bell Telephone Company, working from the Benton Harbor and Kalamazoo offices. He was also active in the Elks Lodge where he was a past Exalted Ruler and State President in the mid-1970s. He is survived by four children, Bill, Wes, and Alex Abler, and Claudia Davenport; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn.
