Hunt, Rebecca Ann 4/8/1953 - 9/22/2021 Woodstock, Georgia Our "Crazy Grandma" Rebecca Ann Hunt (Housler) began her life on April 08, 1953 in Charlotte, Michigan. She was the youngest of three girls born to Leon and Maxine Housler, after Sharon and Connie. Becky attended a one room schoolhouse where her mother was the teacher. She enjoyed helping on the family farm and tending to her horse, Lady. Later on, Becky attended Western Michigan University. Becky began her world explorations while student teaching in Majorca, Spain. She graduated in 1975 with a degree in Education and later returned for her Masters. The same year Becky earned her bachelor's degree, she married David Hunt. Through 7 years of marriage and trying to conceive, they finally were blessed with a special baby girl, Chelsea. Becky and Chelsea traveled the globe together and Becky was a regular guest in Chelsea's own classroom. Becky was a seasoned educator, principal, consultant and writer. She led schools In Kalamazoo, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia; Abu Dhabi, UAE; and Malaysia. She had a passion for promoting literacy and mentoring young educators. The Crazy Grandma chapter of her life, inspired her children's stories that were reflections of her joys as a grandmother. She also began a 'School's Around the World' series showing others how children attended schools in different countries. Retirement allowed her to publish two educational books guided by her expertise in teacher training, staff development, and international studies. She continued to travel, and planned to spend the winters in Cozumel, living "the Bohemian life, enjoying culture, practicing my Spanish, and of course writing!" She was an inspiration to educators and grandmothers from Atlanta to Dubai. On September 22, 2021, Our Heavenly Father decided it was time to bring Becky home. Rebecca was proceeded in death by her parents Leon and Maxine Housler, her sister Connie Francis, and her nephew Jim Adams. She is survived by her daughter Chelsea (Leslie) Adebayo and their 3 sons Mason, Carter and Sebastian. Also survived are her sister Sharon (Larry) Adams, her nieces Jennifer Rottier, Stacy Poll, Kate Buchanan, and Sarah Adams-Powell, and their families, a host of cousins, loved ones, and friends around the world. She is deeply loved and already so terribly missed. Services will be held on Thursday October 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Woodstock City Church as well as a service being held in the summer of 2022 in her home town of Charlotte, Michigan.
