Randy, age 72, died Tuesday evening, February 4, 2020 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Randy, the son of Myrland K. Johnson and Norma G. (Hudson) Walters was born in Lansing, MI on July 15, 1947; was a 1965 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and completed several educational certifications during his military career. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corp and was awarded various citations including the Vietnam Campaign Medal/RVN Gallantry Cross w/Fram and Palm. As a Lieutenant Colonel, Randy retired in 1997 as a Logistics Officer in the North Carolina National Guard. He dedicated 32 years of faithful service to the United States Armed Forces. Randy was a certified PGA course rater and rules official. He loved and lived to watch, teach and play golf, achieving five holes in one. Randy was united in marriage to the former Yolanda Class Miranda in Panama City, Panama on November 7, 1980 and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Faith R. (Kristopher) Bushen of Bertram, TX; two sons, Israel R. Johnson of Wake Forest, NC and Corydon L. (Tonia) Johnson of Cherry Valley, CA; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; his mother, Norma G. Walters of Kalamazoo, MI; five brothers, Leroy (Diane) Johnson of Kalamazoo, Mike (Sandy) Johnson of Pulaski, TN , Denny (Sue) Johnson of Harrison, MI, Ronnie (Lexie) Johnson of Clare, MI and Gregg (Karen) Johnson of Wyoming, MI, and his two constant companions, his dog Winter and cat Tyger. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Myrland; stepfather, Corydon Walters; sister Velma and brothers, Richard, Howard, Leon and Jeff. Randy's wife and children will be greeting family and friends on Friday, February 21st at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89) from Noon to 1:30 p.m. with a time of sharing from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, at 2:30 p.m. with full military honors bestowed by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard. Immediately following the interment ceremony there will be a celebration of life at the Johnson residence, 8376 East DE Avenue, Richland, MI 49083.
