McKeown, Phyllis L. 10/1/1940 - 2/25/2021 Kalamazoo Age 80, passed away at her home on February 25, 2021, with family at her bedside. She was born in Butler, IN, on October 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Phillip and Juanita May (Spring) Brown. Phyllis had a warm smile and gentle nature. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially during the holidays. She was an excellent cook and always had room at her table for guests. Her animals held a special place in her heart, she also enjoyed spending time outside in the garden. She was crafty and liked to collect and make porcelain dolls. She was musically gifted and played the organ. She was fond of traveling and made many trips out West. Above all Phyllis loved her family and she leaves them with many wonderful memories of a life well lived. She was united in marriage to John Arthur McKeown who preceded her in passing in 2016. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Michael McKeown and a brother, Phillip Brown. She is survived by three children, John Allen (Barbara) McKeown, Robert (Tammy) McKeown, Cynthia McKeown; six grandchildren, Melissa (Aaron) Young, David (Alexis) McKeown, Crystal Hunter, Kelly (Graham) Farris, Josh McKeown, Darren Pominville; several great-grandchildren, four siblings, Lonnie (Debra) Brown, William (Terry) Brown, Dale (Fran) Brown, Shurron (Mike) Fry; many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 4, 2021, beginning at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service. Phyllis will be laid to rest with her husband John at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
