Perri Smeltzer Barber 1965-2016, Resided at 6160 Proctor Ave. in Comstock MI. Recently left this life to be with Her Lord Jesus on Oct. 19th at 7:00a.m., at the Rose Arbor Hospice facility. After surviving Cancer for the last eight years, the Lord has called her home. Her life was dedicated to serving others in every aspect of her life. She spent many years as a Para Pro in the Comstock school system working with special needs students and also as a track and girls basketball coach. Everyone who knew Perri remembered her as the Queen of Christmas cookies. Spending months prior to the Christmas season, she would make hundreds of Christmas cookies in no less than a dozen different international types. Perri never had time for cancer; her goals in life over shadowed every aspect of the disease process. Perri's other love was singing praises to God in the church choir. Even after passing, her goal was to donate her organs to others so they may live. However the cancer corrupted that wish. So she went another step further and donated herself to medical research, hoping future doctors could learn so much more about the disease process and treatment effects of modern Chemotherapy. Perri is survived by her husband Paul Barber, sons Adam and Ethan Barber, mother Deanna Foreman, Father Donald Smeltzer, and brothers, Brian and Nathan Smeltzer. A Celebration service of her life will be held Oct. 29th at Gracespring Bible Church, 8643 Gull Rd in Richland Michigan at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the West Michigan Cancer Center in Kalamazoo, which helped Perri to extend her life by many years.
