Paul Yunker, Sr.

Yunker, Sr., Paul W. 7/4/1939 - 12/14/2021 Richland, Michigan Paul W. Yunker, Sr. age 82, of Richland and formerly of Battle Creek passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday afternoon, December 14, 2021. He was born in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Philip E. and Mary E. (Matthews) Yunker, MD. Paul graduated from Lima High School in 1957 and furthered his education at Michigan State University, receiving BS degrees in Law Enforcement and Medical Technology. He worked for the Sandia Corporation, Sparrow Hospital, L.C.M., and retired from Regional Medical Lab in Battle Creek after more than 31 years of service. He was a member of Westlake Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek. He was a Medical Technician with the American Society for Clinical Pathology and was also active over the years with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He enjoyed watching MSU sports, gardening with Martha, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, sitting and talking with his wonderful neighbors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Paul married the "Love of His Life", Martha Ann Young in Sturgis, Michigan on July 18, 1958; she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Allan Beegle) Yunker of Okemos and Debra (Chris) Mendles of Richland; favorite daughter-in-law Karen Yunker, and his grandchildren, Stephen and Alison Beegle, A.J. (Ellie) and Andy Yunker and Kristin and Jacob Mendles; and a brother, James David Yunker, PhD; and several nieces, and nephews. Paul was sadly preceded in death by his son, Paul Yunker Jr. on May 5, 2015; his parents; a sister, Suzanne Harrington; and a brother, Philip E. Yunker. At Paul's request, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paul W.
