Life Story / Obituary

Patricia (Willin) Dickinson was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 9, 1937 to Victor and Marie (Kelly) Willin. Pat met the Lord on May 25, 1972. Since then, she has devoted her life to serving and living for Him. She was very active at First Church of the Nazarene in Kalamazoo for 19 years. Upon her former husband’s graduation from Bible college, they served in four churches as well as several nursing homes in Colorado Springs, Arnold, Fairbury, and Hart. Most recently, Pat has served at Unity Missionary Baptist church.

One of her greatest joys was singing in choir every Sunday (she had many solo parts), along with attending the lay witness trips, and countless other activities. She organized the church Christmas party, made the bulletins, played the piano, taught Adult Sunday School, sang specials, and offered private Bible lessons in her home and at church.

With a servants heart, Pat has been involved in Senior Services, driving people to doctors appointments, playing hand bells, and also volunteered at the Lion’s Club.

Pat’s creative mind worked its magic in all areas of her life. In her free time, she often wrote poetry and could come up with something rather quickly if asked for a special occasion or moment. She also painted ceramic figurines and Disney characters that are proudly displayed throughout her home and bring a smile to visitors.

Her more adventurous side took Pat on many road trips on her Honda motorcycle. A day trip to soak up the sun and the breeze was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Her family fondly remembers she tried camping once, but quickly discovered that a Holiday Inn was a more comfortable weekend getaway.

Patricia’s only wish she leaves behind is 3 John 4; “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” May they all live for God with all their heart so that we may spend eternity together with Jesus in Heaven. Pat’s desire is that all her kids would accept Jesus into their lives and live for Him. God will be the anchor to hold them steady and provide them with strength.

Pat went home to be with her Lord on April 7, 2024. She is preceded in death by her brother, Rober (Marie) Altenburg; sister, Carol Patton; son-in-law, Roger French; and other relatives. She leaves behind 4 children: Cindy Totten, Dawn French, Doyle Eggers Jr., and Paul (Cindy) Eggers; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandsons.

Services will be held Sunday, April 14, at 2 PM at Faith Baptist Church, 56070 Murray St, Mattawan, MI 49071. Visit Pat’s webpage at BetzlerLifeStory.com to archive favorite memories, photos, or sign her guestbook. Donations to Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 47391 CR 665 Paw Paw, MI 49065.
