Cassada, Norma J. Kalamazoo, MI Norma Jean Cassada passed away early Monday morning, April 12, 2021. She was born June 3, 1926 a daughter of Jessie L. and Ellen T. (Terry) Kinney. Norma owned and operated Norma Coiffures for twenty years. She went on to complete 21 years at The Upjohn Company, retiring in December of 1989. In retirement Norma enjoyed volunteering at West Michigan Cancer Center and Borgess Hospital. She was a member of Kalamazoo Covenant Church. Norma will be remembered for her love of wearing brightly colored clothes and always wearing jewelry. Traveling and cooking were her favorite things. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Above all, Norma loved her family and spending time with them. On July 7, 1945, Norma married Jack L. Cassada who preceded her in death on September 1, 2006. Norma was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Max L. Kinney; and brother-in-law, Allen Cassada. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon (Jack) Myers, Carol (Don) Tungate, Larry Cassada, Laurie (Fred) Banda; great-nieces and -nephews, Mike (Sherry) Myers, Troy (Melissa) Tungate, Craig (Kristen) Tungate, Bret (April) Tungate, Erik Tungate, Linsey Pineda, Sy (Maria) Cassada, and Shawna (Jordon) Dobbs; many great-great-nieces and -nephews; special friends, Joan Stonerock and family, Phyllis Melville, and Edythe and Terri Snow. Private burial services were held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A public memorial service is being planned for later at Kalamazoo Covenant Church. Norma's family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Amber Way and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan for their care and compassion. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
