Nellie Clarissa Kroeze went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 22, 2021. She was born on November 17, 1925 in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Leonard and Cornelia (Dubbeld) Boogerman and had been a lifelong area resident. Nell graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. She worked at Muir Pharmacy and later became a co-owner of Central Pharmacy. After starting a family, she became a full-time homemaker. Nell grew up attending Third Christian Reformed Church and after marriage she became a member of Third Reformed Church, now Centerpoint Church. She enjoyed being part of Centerpoint where she was active in Senior Adult Ministries and worked most lunches and dinners for church events. Nell also enjoyed volunteering 26 years at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop in Kalamazoo. Nell was preceded in death by her parents: brother, Isaac J. Boogerman; and sisters, Leona Landt and Celia Ewing. On March 21, 1952 Nell married the love her life Henry W. Kroeze who survives. Also surviving are their daughters, Sheri L. (Dick) Wolthuis and Jan K. (Dave) DeVries, all of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Stephen Wolthuis, Randy (Sarah) DeVries, Michelle DeVries, Ryan (Meghan) DeVries, Kelli (Tyler) Young, and Melissa DeVries; great-grandchildren, Lucas DeVries, Henry DeVries, Penelope Young, Stephen Wolthuis, Jr., Benjamin DeVries, Charlotte DeVries, Eloise Young, Jacob DeVries, and Kate DeVries; and several nieces and nephews. Private viewing and burial service have taken place. A church memorial service will be held 1:30 Friday afternoon, February 26, 2021, with Pastors Jeff Porte and Dar VanderWal officiating. COVID-19 restrictions are in place, masks and social distancing will be required. Nell's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be directed to Kalamazoo Christian School Association, Centerpoint Church – Senior Adult Ministries, or American Cancer Society Discovery Shop Kalamazoo.
