Kuiper, Neil Of Kalamazoo, MI Neil Kuiper, age 92, went home to be with his Lord on November 18, 2020. Neil was born November 23, 1927, the son of Henry and Christina (Nederhoed) Kuiper. On September 16, 1950, he married his sweetheart, Wilma Visser. He was a lifelong area resident and served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-48. His experience and education in electronic instruments gained during his time in the Navy led to employment and a position as the supervisor of Upjohn's Instrument Shop where he was employed for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Everything Neil did came from his deep faith in his loving and faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. And through unimaginable grief and loss, his faith never wavered. He was known as a compassionate, generous, loving, fun and faithful husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. Neil loved life and he loved his family! This was especially evident in all the fun times with their grandchildren at their home on Austin Lake and their many years in Florida. In his spare time, Neil enjoyed golf, tennis, ping pong, bike riding, sailing and fixing things for others! Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Wilma Kuiper, two daughters, Susan (James) VanderLugt, Leanne (Mark) Mejeur, daughter-in-law Sondra Kuiper, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, brother: Robert (Betty) Kuiper and several nieces & nephews. Neil was preceded in death by three sons, David, Richard, and William Kuiper, daughter-in-law, Susan Solomon, sisters Katherine Gossard, Anna Griffioen Santee, brother Henry Kuiper, 4 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. Private family visitation and services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street. Private family graveside services with full military honors will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In addition, the family will welcome a limited number of invited guests at Langeland Family Funeral Home on Sunday at the Westside Chapel.
