Nathaniel Jackson Pollard, age 17, died at Henry Ford hospital in Detroit, MI on Sept. 12, 2020, from an accidental overdose. Nate's story is not an easy one to write; he was complex beyond his years. He was bright, observant, persistent, and sometimes annoying. But spending time with Nate could be some of the most enjoyable time. He could connect with so many different people from diverse walks of life. Nate helped many of them through their darkest moments and saw their value and yet, in many ways, failed to recognize his own. He was a sweet, trusting, kind soul who chose a hard path in his final year of life. Nate had a deep affinity for animals, he loved music, and he spent much time finding the perfect OOTD (outfit of the day). Nate was always good for a joke to brighten your mood; he would do anything to bring a smile to your face if you were struggling. Nate also loved a live concert. His friends and family have special memories of Twenty One Pilots, Lorde and Lollapalooza concerts with Nate. He lived for those moments. Nate leaves behind his loving parents Brendon Pollard of Detroit, MI, Jennifer Pollard of Kalamazoo, MI, his twin sister Elaine Pollard and his three brothers Walter, Henry and Nicholas Pollard of Kalamazoo, MI; He is also survived by loving grandparents, including Al and Bev Pollard of Richland, MI, aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends that loved him. A funeral mass will be held on Friday Sept. 25, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St. Kalamazoo. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday September 26; details available on Facebook. Nate was a treasure and was loved deeply. His promise now lives on in the hearts of the people he touched. A. H. Peters Funeral Home
