Schiedel, Nancy L. Of Portage, MI Nancy Lee Schiedel, age 85, went home to be with her Lord on March 22, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born October 17, 1935 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Howe) Peters and was a lifelong area resident. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Schiedel, Sr. on November 21, 1953. Nancy was employed with the Upjohn Company as a proof reader and retired in 1992 following 20 years of service. She was a longtime active member of the First Reformed Church of Portage. Nancy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren camping during the summer months in Michigan and she spent more than 25 winters in Ruskin, FL with her husband. Family was a very important part of her life. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Donald D. Schiedel, Sr.; their children: Steve (Toni) Schiedel; Judy (Larry) Schwabauer and Don (Jody) Schiedel, Jr.; 8 grandchildren: Stacey (Ron) Hamelink, Justin (Holly) Schiedel, Brian (Jamie) Schiedel, Mandy (Sean) Fischer, Erin (Scott) Hamstra, Chad (Adrienne) Schwabauer, Betsy (Pedro) Sanchez, Daniel (Shayne) Schiedel. 15 great-grandchildren with 1 due in July; sister Alberta (Ron) Blank; sister-in-law's Pat Schiedel and Barb Peters, brother-in-law's Robert Schiedel, Jr. Schiedel, Ken (Maryanne) Schiedel, Donald (Bev) VanLandegent, many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Bertha Peters and a brother Ron Peters. Nancy was blessed with the loving care from Wendi, Karen and Sydnee from Kindred Care Hospice. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 26th from 5-7pm and Saturday, March 27th from 10-11am at the First Reformed Church of Portage (7905 S. Westnedge Ave.) The funeral service will begin at 11:00am Saturday at the church. Masks and social distancing will be required during all activities at the church. A private family burial will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Nancy's memory may be directed to the First Reformed Church of Portage, or Kindred Hospice.
