Nancy Roberts

Nancy M. Roberts, age 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher and friend died on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Clark on Keller Lake, Grand Rapids, MI. She was born in Chicago, IL, to Howard and Lola Kurtz in 1930. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, she married L. Gordon Roberts in 1950. Nancy graduated from Western Michigan University with honors, and taught for several years in the Kalamazoo Public Schools. A woman of faith, grace, dignity and strength, she took great delight in her family and will be remembered for her easy laugh, sweet disposition and lively sense of humor. She loved music and could remember tunes and all the verses to even the most obscure songs. Always curious, she was a master at solving crossword puzzles. A member of Westwood United Methodist Church, she served on various committees and sang alto in the choir. She is survived by three sons and their wives; Bruce and Ardena, Keith and Vicki and Scott and Martha; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Sally Krohn; and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon in 2004. The family of Nancy expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff at Oxford East and Emmanuel Hospice for their compassionate care, love and support (she loved all of you too). The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49006, with Rev. Wayne Price officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
