Nancy Kay Knight

A woman that never knew a stranger. Nancy was boundless in her energy and love for her family and friends. She was known for her many social gatherings where “everyone is welcome”. She had a way of making everyone she met feel like a long-lost friend.

As a child growing up on a farm in Kingsley, Nancy enjoyed the freedom and adventure that her upbringing provided. She and her sister Jeanne have recounted endless stories of their escapades while growing up in such a carefree environment. Nancy carried that spirit for adventure and fearlessness into her adult life as she started her own company, learned to paint, and became quite adept with a shovel, trowel, or table saw. There just wasn’t anything Nancy couldn’t accomplish when she set her mind to it.

Nancy was most proud of her dedication and service to the Silver Lake Community, where she served on the SLIA (Silver Lake Improvement Association) from 1974 – 2024. Nancy was awarded an “Excellence Award” in 2005 and a “Distinguished Service Award” in 2022 for her commitment and dedication to the SLIA.

Nancy was also a woman of faith. She spent many of her early years teaching Sunday School and taking the neighborhood children to church.

In 1995, Nancy met and married Wayne Knight. They so enjoyed their home on Silver Lake as well as their winter home in Florida that was constantly filled with friends and family that came to visit. Nancy enjoyed swinging a hammer alongside her husband as they worked together t build their dream home on the lake. Nancy was able to pass away in this home with her husband at her side and surrounded by her family.
