Monty died at home 5/31/24 ending an on and off battlewith pulmonary disease. Monty was born to Levi and Hattie (Hager) Miller on 2/10/1946.

He graduated from Portage High School in 1965. Monty was volunteered by his friends and neighbors into the U.S. Army serving for two years in Germany. On his return to Kalamazoo he was hired by Michigan Bell as a lineman where he worked for 30 years until retirement. In 1987 he married Nancy and moved to 19 acres on the west side of Kalamazoo. It was here the fun began. While semi-retired, he worked for Fulton Excavating while simultaneously improving the house, garage, and chicken coop. He could never get caught up on his projects at the farm. He added barns, woodsheds, ponds, fencing, a screen house, a moose, miscellaneous livestock, and irrigation. He would lure nieces and nephews, sisters and hubbies out with promises of food, drink and fun only for them to find out there was barn building, or potato digging involved. Monty knew all his neighbors and their scrap metal, as well as all the local mechanics by their first names. He was known by the roar of his nova yellow '58 Power Wagon, hand forged knives and weathervanes.

Monty is survived by his son Ben (Rachel) Miller, wife Nancy, sisters Barb Agema, Millie (Jerry) Houghton and many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held in Monty's honor at Fort Custer at a date yet to be determined.

Monty will be remembered as a character who was loved by all.
