Mildred McGee

Mildred Jane McGee, age 91, went home to be with her Lord on August 12, 2020. Millie was born July 5, 1929, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Haan) Triemstra, and was a lifelong area resident. On October 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to James R. McGee. Millie assisted James in operating the family business "McGee Oil Company" for many years. She was an active member of the Otsego United Methodist Church. Singing was a very important part of Millie's life. She sang in many choirs including the church for over 75 years and even was a soloist at many weddings throughout the years. The most important part of Millie's life was her family, especially caring for her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of over 68 years, James McGee; her daughter Jane (David) Glas; her grandchildren: Lisa (Matt) Nieuwenhuis and Christopher McGee; her great-grandchildren: Sydney and Cody Nieuwenhuis; her sister Sinne Vlietstra; nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her son Richard McGee; her parents and by her siblings: Evelyn Sportel and Albert Triemstra. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00pm on Monday August 17th at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. Memorials in Millie's memory may be directed to Otsego United Methodist Church.
