Mildred D. Boorstein, 90, of Battle Creek, died October 12, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born June 24, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Hannah Daybook in Aurora, Illinois. Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Franklin and her second husband, Louis Boorstein; her son, Meyer Franklin; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Franklin; and siblings, Molly Levi, Fannie Fagan, Florence Simon, Sarah Karsch, Benjamin Daybook, Irene Weintraub and Louis Daybook. She is survived by her sister, Esther Sherman of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Debra (Ed) Hammock, Elizabeth F. (Mike) Cohen, Richard M. Franklin and Ellen (Brett) Frazier, all of Battle Creek and Susan F. (Mac) Behnke of Gull Lake; 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Mildred was a member of Temple Beth El, Battle Creek Country Club and played with the Battle Creek Symphony in her younger years. She was an avid bridge player and most importantly was a devoted mother and grandmother. A graveside service will take place 1:00 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery, Cantor Larry Charson, officiating. Memorial donations may go to Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
